We Believe ...
- We believe the Torah is as relevant today, in present times, as it was thousands of years ago.
- We believe in God, who created the universe and who wants us to live by the values and ethics He articulated for us in the Torah (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible).
- We believe God gave us the Ten Commandments. We are centered around belief in Torah as a sacred and divine document. We are not part of a formal organization of synagogues, but we are fully within the tradition of Jewish communities throughout the ages.
- We believe that observance of Shabbat is of paramount importance. We believe that the calendar of the Jewish year and its various holidays are to be observed.
- We believe in and follow the many thousand-year-old tradition, best shown in the Talmud, of respectful and learned discussion, agreement, disagreement, and range of opinions within Judaism, so long as such debate is anchored in God and Torah.
- We welcome those who share our beliefs and find our “style” congenial, as well as those who are looking for a traditional, non-orthodox, serious, joyous, and friendly Jewish Shabbat. This includes a small number of Christians who respect and appreciate the Jewish people and share our reverence for Torah.
